E-PBX / IP-PBX

E-PBX (Electronic Private Branch Exchange) and IP-PBX (Internet Protocol Private Branch Exchange) are business telephony systems used to manage internal and external voice communication efficiently. Traditional E-PBX systems primarily work with analog or digital telephone lines, enabling extension-to-extension calling, call transfer, call routing, intercom, and centralized call management within an organization.

IP-PBX is the modern evolution that uses IP networks and VoIP technology to transmit voice over data networks, allowing advanced features such as IVR (Interactive Voice Response), voicemail, call recording, auto attendant, conferencing, remote extensions, mobile integration, CRM connectivity, and multi-branch communication over the internet.

Telecom Gateway

A telecom gateway acts as a bridge between different communication networks that use different protocols, signal formats, or transmission methods. It enables systems like IP-PBX, VoIP phones, and internal IP networks to communicate with external networks such as PSTN lines, SIP trunk providers, analog phone systems, PRI/E1 lines, or GSM/mobile networks.

When a user initiates a call from an IP phone or PBX system, the call reaches the gateway, where protocol conversion, codec translation, signaling conversion, number routing, and media processing take place before the call is forwarded to the destination network.
